Fox Hollow Wedding: Ilana & Ryan

Fun, modern, and glam are just a few words that could be used to describe Ilana and Ryan’s wedding at Fox Hollow. These two musicians exchanged vows in a religious Jewish ceremony and then spent the night dancing with everyone on the dance floor.

The beautiful couple met in college. Both were studying music education at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. The two had been friends for some time but it took a little while for Ilana to realize that Ryan was purposely staying late at the library and music building to walk her home. He would text her and a group of friends to get meals in the dining hall just so he could spend time with her. How cute!

Eventually, Ilana worked up the courage to ask Ryan to go to a concert at school together followed up by some romantic star gazing. They have been inseparable since! Four years later, Ryan got down on one knee in Rutgers Gardens and asked Ilana to spend the rest of their lives together.

Of all the exciting events that take place during the day of your wedding, Ilana and Ryan were most looking forward to their first look. They believe this was when it finally felt real and were so excited to see each other. Theirs took place on a bridge outside in the garden at Fox Hollow.

Considering the couple both studied music in college, you could assume that this was a pretty big part of their wedding. For their ceremony, a pianist played and their rabbi played the guitar. They both walked circles around one another keeping with Jewish tradition but embracing feminism. It was unique to them and very special. They even had custom yarmulkes, programs, and baskets tied with blush bows.

As for their reception, the couple chose to have a band to make it feel “like a musicians’ wedding.” The room at Fox Hollow was filled with modern glam decor and had a bunch of personal touches around the room. These included photos of them, a photo book, lanterns, and a seating chart.

When it comes to a wedding, one of the most important details is the attire, specifically the bride’s wedding dress. Ilana donned a beautiful v-neck, A-line gown with an accentuated waist from David’s Bridal made by Oleg Cassini. She added a belt to add some sparkle while also making it look vintage. Her veil came with the dress but she ordered a hair piece off Amazon to keep the sparkle going in her updo. Ilana wore blush colored heels to match the wedding colors, navy, blush, and gold.

Ryan wore a slim-fitting navy tux with a blush bowtie from Men’s Warehouse. “I thought he looked like my Prince Charming,” adds Ilana.

If Ilana had to give any advice for future couples, she’d urge them not to sweat the details. “If you can think of anything that you don’t really care about, don’t spend the money on it.”

We had a blast capturing all the exquisite moments at Ilana and Ryan’s wedding at Fox Hollow and we wish them a lifetime of health and happiness!
