Sleepy Hollow Country Club Wedding: Kimberly & Mike

Kimberly and Mike just embarked on their latest adventure, marriage! The two tied the knot at the awe-inspiring Sleepy Hollow Country Club.

The two originally met in law school and after “one dog year of dating,” Mike finally popped the question!

Both the bride and groom could not wait for their first look. Kim and Mike spent the night before in separate rooms, anticipating their reunion. Since they loved the spiral staircase at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, they decided that’s where they wanted to see each other for the first time on their wedding day Mike, similar to many grooms, did not know what Kim was going to wear. However, the twist was, Kim did not know what Mike was wearing either!

“After now spending almost 8 years together, the thought of us renewing our relationship commitment in marriage was embodied within the first look, where we looked upon each other with fresh eyes.”

Mike blew Kim away in, as she described, a James Bond look. He donned an ivory dinner jacket with black pants and Ferragamo velvet shoes. Kim did not know if she could rival his look but she most certainly took the cake in her Lovely Bride gown by Louvienne. It was a perfectly simple and elegant yet dramatic silhouette. She completed her look with a pendant emerald necklace, matching earrings, and a mixed metallic stiletto (which she didn’t take off all night!) As a wedding gift, Mike gave his bride a David Yurman bracelet that added some sparkle to her ensemble.

Since their theme was romantic and classic, they added white, pink, and burgundy florals. They were seen in both the bridesmaids bouquets and the cocktail hour displays. Kim wanted her wedding to exude romance. So, she made sure the staircase entering Sleepy Hollow Country Club was covered in florals and candles. The exit of the venue, however, spoke for itself as it overlooked the Hudson River. They reserved all the white flowers for the reception inside of the tent.

Their theme carried over to the reception with ivory linens and gold chargers, flatware, and glassware. To make it extra special, Kim and Mike added their last initial to pretty much everything at Sleepy Hollow Country Club. From matchbooks to napkins to menus, candles, the wedding cake, and even an ice sculpture!

To complete the color scheme, the bridesmaids wore dark hunter green dresses with a pair of emerald green earrings, gifted to them by the bride.

Now let’s talk about the most important stuff, the food and music of course! Both Kim and Mike have musicians in their family and even Mike himself is a musician, so as you might assume, the music HAD to be fantastic. Their band, the Artie Stuart band with Hank Lane, did not disappoint! The newlyweds entered their reception to a song that Mike’s dad was involved in producing, “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang.

Warning: the following content may make your mouth water! Sleepy Hollow Country Club blew it out of the water (pun intended)! During the cocktail hour, there was a cold seafood station exploding with shrimp, crab, lobster. During dinner, truffle mashed potatoes were served, yes, you read that right, TRUFFLE mashed potatoes. Their wedding cake, by Ron Ben Israel, was stunning and was accompanied by pastries and a gelato station with Nutella injections. Alright, now our mouths are watering!

Kim and Mike’s wedding was not just beautiful, it was FUN! Everyone had such a fantastic time dancing with loved ones, eating delicious food, and laughing during speeches. We are so happy we could be involved with such an amazing wedding at Sleepy Hollow Country Club!

The bride had some advice to share with future brides! “Get ahead of everything! The month before the wedding is filled with vendor questionnaires and finalizations of all the details you care about most. You can easily miss those details and get off track of what is important, so focus and figure out what you want to make this once in a lifetime occasion early on. By this point in your relationship, entering into the marriage should be easy to find peace and comfort in that during the hectic wedding planning and maybe hone some of those skills for use in navigating marriage. I will have to let you know how that works out for me later on since I have only been married for three days!”

In addition, here’s a little anecdote from Kim, “Every moment with your husband that day, that is what the whole event is about so look into his eyes every chance you get. We were in very heavy traffic on the way from the ceremony to the reception. It was the first time in my life that  I enjoyed traffic– I would even go as far as to call it magical traffic. We smiled and laughed and enjoyed every stranger that screamed out well wishes to us as we drive by and could care less that it took 20 minutes to move 20 feet.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Barresi!
