When Samantha and Thomas met in Huntington Village back in 2012, they never imagined they’d be getting married at The Mansion at Oyster Bay. In fact, after the first time they met, they never imagined seeing each other again. But, as fate would have it, around 6 months later the two ran into each other at the bar where they met. Tom bought Sam a shot and from then on, they were attached at the hip.
Fair warning, you’re going to want to grab your tissues for this proposal story! In the summer of 2016, Tom and Sam began looking for houses. They came across a fixer-upper in the most perfect neighborhood and put in a bid. Secretly, Tom bought the house but told Sam that they were outbid. In the meantime, he fixed up the house without telling anyone but his father who is a contractor. Instead, they told Sam that Tom’s father was doing work on the house for one of his clients.
On Christmas morning, Tom asked Sam to go for a drive where they ended up at the dream house. He told Sam he wanted to show her all the work his father had done, so they went inside. Sam walked in and found a fireplace, Christmas tree, and Christmas music playing. When she turned around from looking at the fireplace, Tom was down on one knee.
The two had originally planned for their wedding at an earlier date, however, they had to postpone when they found out they were expecting a little girl! So, when it came time to plan for this wedding, Sam and Tom knew they wanted it to be about family. And partying! Yet, most importantly, they had to have a ceremony in their church.
Sam and Tom were most excited to see one another for the first time walking down the aisle. It turned out as magical as they anticipated. In addition, Father Adrian did a blessing over the bride and groom as well as their daughter. It was touching for everyone involved. After a grand exit from their church, everyone went to The Mansion at Oyster Bay to party!
Before we talk about the insane reception, let’s discuss the bride’s stunning gown. When Sam went dress shopping, this was the first dress she tried on. She loved how simple it was and that it had pockets. For the ceremony, Sam added a lace covering to keep it more conservative but took it off so she could grove at the reception.
Tom, on the other hand, looked very handsome in a classic navy suit. He added a burgundy bowtie and pocket square to match the bridesmaids’ gowns. All of his groomsmen did the same.
The pop of burgundy stayed consistent throughout the party as well. The bride and groom implemented rustic floral arrangements with lots of green, burgundy, and champagne colors. In addition to the flowers, Sam and Tom used family photos and votive lights to decorate the venue.
Once the music began, the guests were on their feet and didn’t stop until the music did. The bride’s father even joined the band at one point! In the end, Sam and Tom found that the most special portion of the day was dancing their first dance as a married couple.
Aside from that, they loved taking pictures in the snow! Check them out!
Sam and Tom’s simple, burgundy-colored wedding at The Mansion at Oyster Bay went as smoothly as any bride and groom could hope for. We are so glad we had the chance to take part in it.
PS. here’s some advice from the bride. “One of the best moments is seeing your husband at the end of the aisle looking back at you! Soak that all in and never forget that look. One day you will grow old together and you will still have that image in your mind.”
Congratulations!
