For Alyssa and Anthony, travel is one of the most important things to them. So when Anthony got down on one knee, it only made sense to do it while traveling. Before we get to the proposal that brought us to this Old Bethpage Village Restoration wedding, however, we have to start at the very beginning.
The two originally met in high school. They were best friends, shared a locker, and sat next to each other on the bus every day for 2 years. They had been together romantically for a little while but knew they needed to experience life on their own before making a forever commitment. So, they both went off to separate colleges, yet always kept in touch. Once Anthony graduated, he would take the 5-hour trip up to see Alyssa at Cortland every other weekend. It didn’t take long for them to put a label on it.
Fast forward to 2017, when Alyssa and Anthony took a 16 day long trip to Indonesia, Singapore, and The Maldives. On the first day of the trip, Anthony proposed on the beach at sunset in Gili Air, Indonesia. The beach was full of onlookers and a hired photographer who captured the whole thing. “After 5 years of dating, and 10 years of friendship, they were finally on their next adventure together: marriage.”
So, on 7/7, their 7th anniversary, Alyssa and Anthony became husband and wife.
The couple started the day at their church where all their close family and friends watched them make it official. The bride was walked down the aisle by her father, only after the adorable flower girl and ring bearers. When Alyssa reached the end of the aisle, she stood beside her groom as they exchanged vows. After, they sealed it with a kiss. Holding hands, the bride and groom left the church with a grand exit.
Now that they were legally and religiously man and wife, the two headed to the stunning location of Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The perfect pair couldn’t wait for their first dance to the song “You’re Still the One” which has been their song since they started dating. It was a dream come true for Alyssa and Anthony to finally have the chance to dance to it as their first dance song.
Now let’s talk about the decor! The couple had hanging string lights lining the ceiling, creating the most gorgeous rustic ambiance. Truly, we’re in love with this place! Their color scheme was the same as Alyssa’s parents, who were married 30 years ago. It was a lovely way to pay tribute to her parents. They used fake flowers around the venue as well as lots of DIY, travel-inspired decorations.
The centerpieces were comprised of a wooden sign with the table number as well as a globe with a different quote on each one. Both sat atop a piece of wood, looking as though it was just cut from a tree. Every table looked impeccable!
Alyssa and Anthony’s guests spent their whole night dancing. We love capturing candid photos of everyone having a good time. It just shows how much fun everyone had celebrating love!
When the night started to come to a close, all the guests were surprised with a food truck exit station! Everyone grabbed some food for their ride home.
Here’s some advice from Alyssa for all those future brides out there! “Wedding planning is one of the most stressful times in someone’s life, don’t forget that it is a day for you and your significant other, not for everyone else. Keep everything YOU. Don’t plan a wedding based on what you feel other people will like. Also, don’t have people that you don’t want in your wedding party because they are family, at the end of the day they will look miserable and be another thing to worry about.”
“Everything went PERFECT on our wedding day, but it went so incredibly fast. Anyone that gets the pleasure of working with EXO will be more than happy that’s who they chose. Josh, Nicole and Paul were among the best parts of our day!”
Congratulations Alyssa and Anthony! Your Old Bethpage Village Restoration wedding was unbelievable and we are so glad we had the chance to be a part of it!
