Some couples are just meant to be together. And fate has a funny way of doing things. Sirena and Austin are the perfect example. They just had their engagement session at Planting Fields Arboretum but it took them 10 years to actually meet! 

They went to high school together but didn’t know one another. Years later, Austin was hitting on Sirena’s friend’s friend at a wedding. However, she was not single so, she suggested meeting Sirena on a blind date! 

Unfortunately, the first date did not go as well as planned. It was at a bar that, unbeknownst to them, had a live heavy metal band playing that night. It was impossible to hear each other with the screaming behind them but, thank goodness they both had a great sense of humor and laughed it off. 

After many, much better dates, Austin decided it was time to make it official. 

On July 4th, Austin and Sirena planned to go to a friend’s house as they always do. Beforehand, they had gotten into a little argument but still went. As soon as they showed up, Austin pulled Sirena aside to “apologize.” But, instead of apologizing, he proposed to Sirena in front of everyone. Even Sirena’s family and friends were there, hiding upstairs, filming the entire time.

Sirena was completely shocked and couldn’t stop crying. The two had always talked about getting married but she never expected it to be then! It was the best surprise she could have imagined. 

Sirena and Austin picked Planting Fields Arboretum because they loved the airy, outdoorsy landscape. They thought it would be a spectacular backdrop for these once-in-a-lifetime photos. And they were absolutely correct! 

The couple chose not to use any props but brought along their fur baby, Abby! They very obviously love their dog so, of course, had to include her in their shoot. According to Sirena, “Abby is very special to Austin and he loves her probably more than he loves me.” Anyone with a pet can definitely relate to this! 

The soon-to-be bride and groom did not have a plan for their engagement shoot but had a few general ideas for some photos. Aside from that, they left it up to us to tell them what to do. We love combining natural and posed photos to get the perfect mix of pictures. 

Sirena and Austin also loved getting to know one of our photographers, Danny, before the wedding. “Danny is very nice and funny. He’s easy to work with and talk to. We feel comfortable with him.” 

After all the fun we had at Planting Fields Arboretum, we cannot wait to see what’s in store for the wedding. Congratulations on your engagement, Sirena and Austin!
