Ever hear that rumor that by age 16 there is a 60% chance you’ve already met the person you’ll marry? Well, there may be some truth to that yet! Well, that is if you base it off of Jessica and Daniel’s love story! The two took their engagement photos at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve.
Jessica and Daniel (DJ) met when they were 15. They grew up living in the town over from one another and DJ played baseball with Jessica’s cousin. She even admits to having a crush on him in college, although the timing was not quite right yet. It wasn’t until Jessica’s 24th birthday when a mutual friend of the two tricked Jessica into kissing DJ. The following week the two went on their first date and the rest, as they say, is history!
That is, of course, until October 2017 when Jessica’s family was attending her cousin’s baby shower in Boston. A few weeks before they departed, DJ informed Jessica that his father and brothers would be tagging along as to celebrate his birthday a week early.
The family went to the baby shower and then after, Jessica and her mother met up with all the men in Boston Commons. For weeks, Jessica was planning the perfect photo of her sitting on the bench from Goodwill Hunting, her favorite movie. When Jessica and DJ sat down on the bench, both their families started taking pictures. That was when DJ got down on one knee. Jessica could not believe it, she just kept yelling “shut up!” Finally, she let him get a word in and she obviously said yes!
The couple picked Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve because of how much it reminded them of Boston. In addition, they love the fall (another reason they love Boston and New England). So it was only right to take their photos in the fall with all the beautifully colored leaves in a place with such a rustic feel.
Jessica and DJ didn’t have a plan for their engagement photos, “we just let Josh lead us. He was great.” They were both very nervous about their shoot but found that taking these pictures eased their anxiety and now know how to stand without feeling robotic.
Luckily, on the day of their shoot, it was the only day over 60 degrees that week. So the couple was able to wear exactly what they wanted. Jessica was dressed in a red, white, and navy flannel with a white shirt under and dark blue jeans. To match, DJ wore a navy t-shirt with dark blue jeans as well.
We had so much fun shooting Jessica and DJ’s engagement photos at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve and we are looking forward to the wedding!
