Oceanbleu Wedding: Elizabeth and Michael

They met through a mutual friend, who was the best man at the wedding. Mike grew up with Chris, the best man, in San Diego and they were college roommates. Chris left San Diego to attend Georgetown School of Medicine where he met Elizabeth (Ebb). Chris threw a surprise 30th birthday party for his fiance in Washington, DC in February of 2012 where Ebb and Mike met for the first time. At the party a very attractive girl caught Mike’s eye. With a little bit of effort he found out that her name was Ebb.

At some point in the evening as libations flowed, to be sure she noticed him, Mike got her in a corner and used his patented Captain Morgan move to keep her from fleeing. It must have worked since, when she was with friends the next day and saw Mike across the street participating in a Pub Crawl with some of the partiers from the previous evening, Ebb asked Carla if that was “the guy I met last night.” When Carla said yes, Ebb commented – “I didn’t know he had red hair.”

After the party Mike returned to California, and he kept in contact with Ebb through text messages and phone calls. They did not meet again until Chris and Arden’s wedding 8 months later, after which they began their transcontinental dating. In December 2014, Ebb left the East Coast to move to San Diego.

Mike proposed on September 5, 2015 on their hotel balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii. Mike lured Ebb to Hawaii under the auspices that this was a trip for her birthday, which was a few weeks later, but she had a feeling he was going to propose. She tore the house apart for weeks trying to find the ring, but no luck. (She later found out he kept it hidden in his office drawer for almost 2 months).

On the flight from San Diego to Hawaii, the flight attendant announced that someone had left a ring in the bathroom and to see her to claim it. Mike’s hand moved instinctively to his pocket and she knew her suspicions were correct. During the day when he proposed they were going snorkeling and he got up and shaved. Mike never shaves on vacation- so she knew something was up. After getting ready for dinner, he brought her out to the balcony around sunset. There was a bottle of champagne and two glasses set up with beautiful orchids draped around them. He got down on one knee and asked Ebb to be his wife.
