Monika and Joseph really wanted cherry blossoms in their engagement photos, so we gave them a list of multiple places that had them and made it happen! Their shoot took place at Planting Fields Arboretum with plenty of cherry blossoms in addition to beautiful architecture and scenery.

The couple first met through mutual friends. The two had been running in the same group for over 10 years and never crossed paths. It wasn’t until they attended a friend’s birthday party on the rooftop of Berry Park in Brooklyn where they finally met.

To make their love story come full circle, Joseph popped the question where they met, Berry Park in Brooklyn. Monika believed she was going out to celebrate her brother-in-law’s birthday. She was standing by the bar waiting to order drinks when Joseph tapped her on the shoulder. When she turned around he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The whole bar, including both their families, started clapping and cheering.

On the day of the engagement photo shoot, the weather was perfect. The couple’s only real concern was their outfits (which were beautiful! See for yourself!).

They had no plan for the exact pictures however they knew they wanted it to feel magical and spring-like. They also wanted us to give them some direction in how to pose. Monika recalls the shoot as helpful in giving them a taste for what’s to come on their big day. She says while at first posing was awkward as they are not used to it, by the end, they were so comfortable and now won’t feel awkward on the day of the wedding.

We loved shooting Monika and Joseph’s engagement photos at Planting Fields Arboretum and are looking forward to their wedding day!
