There’s one thing we love more than chocolate and that’s love! So when Ben proposed to Carly with a chocolate cake, our hearts melted! And continued to melt through their entire wedding at Temple Beth El in Cedarhurst.
Carly and Ben met in 2014 on J-Swipe, the Jewish dating app. At the time, Carly was a sophomore at Binghamton and Ben was a senior at Arizona State. Both were home for Rosh Hashanah and decided to sign up for the app. After a bit of swiping, Carly came across this handsome, skinny, brunette, Jewish boy and knew she had to speak to him. So, she messaged him, which lead to non-stop texting for weeks and eventually a meet up at a Red Mango.
Carly was very nervous to actually meet Ben so she kept pushing off their date until 10 PM rolled around. When they got there, they realized the store was closing so they grabbed their yogurt and ate it in the car. The lovebirds spent 3 hours talking to one another. They knew this was it.
Two years later on Rosh Hashanah 2016, Ben took Carly and her parents out to lunch at her favorite sushi restaurant. Once their wonderful lunch was over, they ordered dessert. Carly’s chocolate cake came out in a steaming box and when she opened it, a ring box was in its place! Ben got down on one knee in front of the love of his life and her parents and asked Carly to marry him. And that’s how we got to this beautiful wedding day!
As you can probably assume, the couple took part in a religious ceremony. Carly actually received the same wedding band her mother wore. How awesome is that? The two stood under a floral chuppah, said their prayers, and smashed the glass! They couldn’t wait for that first kiss as a married couple.
From the ceremony, everyone headed to the reception room at Temple Beth El where they watched Carly and Ben’s first dance. The room was decorated with creams, whites, and blues. Each table had lovely hydrangeas as centerpieces with table settings to match. And check out their beautiful cake! As delicious as it was beautiful, the cake was topped with a silhouette depicting the perfect pair and their cat, Georgie.
The evening went on as planned with everyone on their feet dancing the whole time. Carly and Ben loved that they had the chance to see family and friends from all over.
As for fashion, Carly wore a Madison James dress from Max Bridal NY. When Carly went to find her dream wedding dress, she brought her mother, sister, and family friend. She tried on a bunch of dresses but knew the one she saw in the window was the one for her. And when she tried it on, she loved it even more. It was a long white gown with a lace and sparkly bodice and a big bottom. She looked and felt like a princess!
Her prince charming, Ben, was dressed in a black tuxedo from Men’s Wearhouse. He wore Union Jack cuff links to show his love of England as well as his family’s background. Since they both love the color navy, they knew they had to include it. So, Ben wore a navy vest and bowtie which matched perfectly with the bridesmaids’ dresses and other groomsmen. In addition, all the bridesmaids’ bouquets had a splash of navy blue in them.
This Temple Beth El Cedarhurst wedding was so much fun and we are so glad we had the chance to be a part of it. Mazel tov Carly and Ben! Click here to see their wedding video!
